HARD - X

SUBSTRATE HARDENER & SEALER

DESCRIPTION

HARD-X is solvent based substrate hardener & sealer, with deep penetrating action.

HARD-X is used to strengthen and seal substrates such as old plaster, masonry, concrete (excellent for sanding surfaces), and gypsum based plasters. For masonry made from absorbent bricks (clay brick, calcium silicate brick, etc.).

PREPARATION & DIRECTIONS

All surfaces must be clean, dry, firm and prepared. All loose areas must be dislodged and removed. Gypsum plaster must be hard and dry. Remove non-load bearing paints mechanically with a wire brush or by sandblasting. Completely wash off any distemper paints or calcimine. Remove wallpaper and wash off excess paste.

Apply HARD-X evenly and liberally with a brush or roller. Highly absorbent surfaces should be sealed with undiluted HARD-X. Slightly absorbent surfaces may

PREPARATION & DIRECTIONS (CON’T.)

be coated with a dilution of 1 part HARD-X and 1 part mineral spirits. For maximum penetration, use 2 coats of the 1 to 1 dilution, wet on wet. HARD-X must penetrate the substrate, not stay on the surface. It is not desirable to form a glossy coat on the surface. IF A GLOSSY COAT FORMS, TEST FOR ADHESION. De-gloss surfaces with sandpaper if adhesion is inadequate. Apply only to unfrozen surfaces; temperature must be above 38 F for at least 8 hours after preparation.
