 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

EQUIPMENT:

The equipment suggested to apply and remove PRMAKOTE is as follows:

(A) Airless Sprayer providing a minimum of 1500 psi through a tip appropriate for the surface being sprayed.

(B) Paint Brush. A poly-foam brush is generally preferred, and is also used to brush out build ups and drips.

(C) Paint Roller. A roller suitable for use paints should be used. Rollers should only be used on smooth surfaces or to remove runs from rough textured surfaces.

(D) Power Generator. For providing power to the airless spray.

APPLICATION:

PRMAKOTE may be applied to any vertical, painted or unpainted surface, including, but not limited to, brick, tile, stone, block, split face block, stucco, EIFS, concrete, marble, granite, wood, metal.

See MSDS for suggested protective gear. It is recommended to use all safety precautions when using any product.

PROCEDURES:

Recommended Method of Application:

SPRAY - All rough or textured surfaces, masonry.

BRUSH & ROLLER - Smooth surfaces such as signs, metals.

(A) NOTE: If the surface has graffiti on it, this must be removed before PRMAKOTE coating is applied. Ensure any new paint has adequate time to dry and cure before applying PRMAKOTE.

NOTE: If the surface paint is flaking or cracked, all loose material must be removed before applying PRMAKOTE. As a general recommendation, do not coat such a surface.

(B) Allow the surface to totally dry, if it has been cleaned, or if it is wet from other causes. The surface must be completely dry.

CAUTION: Not for use on horizontal surfaces.

(C) To apply the PRMAKOTE by means of an airless sprayer, hold the spray tip about 8 - 12 inches from the surface and move it either horizontally or vertically (depending on surface textures), maintaining the distance from the surface to the limit of arm movement. Roll the wrists at the beginning and end of each stroke so as to provide even entry and exit to the spray area. Operate the spray trigger at the mid-point of the entry roll and release it at the mid-point of the exit roll.

The spray gun should be held at right angles to the surface. Start at the upper level of arm extension and do a forward and backward horizontal stroke over the same area. Move to the bottom of the sprayed area and repeat. Continue to the bottom. Move sideways to the edge of the sprayed area and repeat. Continue until all the surface is covered.

(D) Check for runs and areas where too much spray has been applied. Use the paint brush to spread these areas smooth with the surroundings.

NOTE: MORE IS NOT BETTER ! A heavier application is wasteful.

(E) Check to ensure all vertical grooves, and all nooks and crannies in the surface are properly coated. A vertical spray stroke may be needed in these areas.

NOTE: The speed of the application stroke will be dependent on the absorbency of the surface being coated, slow for absorbent, fast for non-absorbent. The only way of determining the correct speed is by practice and experience. PRMAKOTE is effective with one single coat, provided that coat is properly applied, with complete coverage achieved.

(F) PRMAKOTE may be applied by brush or roller. This is recommended only on smooth surfaces such as signs or metals. On textured, rough surfaces, masonry surfaces spray is recommended.

(G) Allow the PRMAKOTE coating to dry. Drying is by evaporation of the carrier in the coating and may take from 3 hours depending on conditions. PRMAKOTE begins protecting as soon as it is dry.

Warning

PRMAKOTE should not be applied in a high wind, when it is raining. High humidity will slow drying.
